Riffing off of Will's Retail Apocolypse post below

My wife and I were talking about grocery stores and their evolution when it comes to delivery of said goods.

Long before I was born, grocery stores were all small, local establishments who used employees to deliver- sometimes kids on bikes (the pharmacy in "It's a Wonderful Life", for example). When I began going to the store with my parents (I am 57), all stores took your groceries to the car.

At some point, almost all grocery stores stopped. Now, in short order, in the west end of Richmond, you can send in your list and have the groceries bagged and waiting at Kroger and Walmart(?). Or, Publix will deliver right to your house.

Full circle...
